PUMPKIN PATCH ADVENTURES – OCTOBER 2013

Now that fall is in the air, it is the perfect time for thinking of having some fun at one of our Kansas City pumpkin patches.  So many local farms have developed corn mazes, horse-drawn wagon rides, scarecrow-making, and of course, pumpkin picking for the entire family.  There are many places that offer music and cider, craft festivals, gift stores, and all kinds of “haunting” fun.  Fall festivities fill the air everywhere from the Deanna Rose Farmstead in Southern Overland Park to the Louisburg Cider Mill, down in Louisburg, Ks.

There is the excitement of the traditional haunted houses which are located down in the West Bottoms of KCMO for older folks.  These are scary no matter how many times you have been there. The ghouls and goblins, who reside there every year, invite you to test your nerve to see if you can navigate through the scary scenes and situations which await, without succumbing to the dark side . . .

Even Worlds of Fun gets into the act, with its Halloween Hauntings.  The little people can find a more or less benign haunting atmosphere to play in, while older kids will be able to test their resolve in more frightening ways.

Pumpkin Patches are all around the city.  Out in the Southern part of the metro, you will find the Johnson Family Farms.  Just outside of the city, but very close, on 177th and Holmes Road you will find lots to do and explore as you run through the corn mazes, take the wagon rides, shop in the country store, and pick your very own pumpkin.

Carolyn’s Pumpkin Patch up in Liberty, has lots of activities, shopping option, a great pumpkin patch, and even a little train for the wee folk to ride. On NE 52nd St., in Liberty, MO., you will find more than enough activities to keep the kiddos occupied and having a blast.  They will be worn out long before you will get them to leave.

The Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch on 158th St., in Bonner Springs also offers all the above activities, as well as snack, drinks (cold or warm, depending on what the weather demands), and lots of fun for the entire family. Don’t miss this great family fun time!

So take advantage of these glorious Fall days to be outside with the family and creating memories that will last a lifetime while you enjoy the fun and festivities of the season! Let us know about other great activities!
