2013 Annual Gobbler Grind Community Run in Overland Park KS

It’s that time of year again to celebrate one of our nation’s favorite holidays! That’s right, Thanksgiving is just around the corner!  But before you stuff the turkey, bake a pumpkin pie or whip up some yams, work up an appetite at the 17th annual Gobbler Grind Run in Overland Park. This is a fun way to gear up for the holiday feasting and you can sign up to run either the Marathon, Half Marathon or Family 5K.

Raceday will be Sunday, November 24th at Corporate Woods, (9401 Indian Creek Pkwy.), in Overland Park. The start time for the Marathon will be at 8:00 AM, while the Half Marathon and Family 5K will begin at 8:15 AM. Registration prices vary depending on the race, but you can visit the Race Information page to find out more on the pricing. There are registration discounts if you sign up by November 21st and all participants will get a complimentary zip up hoodie!  You can register online or download a paper entry form once you know which race you would like to enter. Awards will be handed out to the top male and female finishers overall, as well as to the top three finishers in a number of age groups.

Packets can be picked up on Saturday, November 23rd between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM at either Garry Gribbles Running Sports in Overland Park, or at Stoll Park on W. 119th St. & Quivira Rd. You can also show up on raceday starting at 6:30 AM and pick up your packet before your race. The race will be timed using bib chips and contestants can view results on the Gobbler Grind website.

Would you rather help the contestants instead? Not a problem! The Gobbler Grind is looking for volunteers to help coordinate this fun family event. There will be aid stations along the race course approximately every 2-3 miles, which will supply water and sports drink for the runners. This will be a great opportunity to cheer on the runners!

Let’s kick off the Thanksgiving week with this fun racing tradition!  Then you’ll be ready for the Thanksgiving Day feast!
