If you’re interested in getting your daily dose of culture, the museum is a must.
Although it may not technically be a museum, another highly photographed site in Kansas City is the public library. Designed to look like a a towering stack of books, the exterior of the library features colossal version of classics like To Kill a Mockingbird, Invisible Man, and A Tale of Two Cities.
Grab Some Barbecue
Although there are now four locations around the area, the renowned Joe’s Kansas City Barbecue started from humble beginnings in a gas station way back in 1996. Joe’s gained something of a local reputation, expanded its number of locations, and the rest is history. If you’re in Kansas City, a plate of Joe’s famous barbecue can’t be missed.
When you ask a Kansas City local where to get the best barbecue in the city, you’ll probably hear a few different answers. While each person is partial to their own favorite flavors, we thought we should at least provide you with a little variety in options. If Joe’s doesn’t satisfy your barbecue cravings, we recommend stopping at other local favorites like Arthur Bryant’s or Q39.
Explore Local Flavors
In addition to the barbecue scene, Kansas City offers a variety of other local flavors. The best place to explore all of the freshest goods in the city is at the River Market. Located on the banks of the Missouri River and just blocks away from the heart of Downtown Kansas City, a stroll around the River Market is filled with the smell of delicious baked goods and some of the best views in the city.
Looking to try some local brew while you’re in the city? Boulevard Brewing Company is based in Kansas City and has a pretty devoted fanbase throughout the Midwest. Take a tour of their brewery and enjoy complimentary samples, then browse the gift shop for all of your souvenir needs.
Cheer on KC Teams
Even though Kansas City isn’t as large as other metropolitan areas, residents get the unique opportunity to cheer on three different sports team in the city. If love the gridiron game of football, catch a Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium, known as the loudest stadium in the world.
During the spring and summer season, take in a few innings of America’s national past-time. The 2015 World Series Champions, the Royals play at the Kauffman Stadium right across the lot from Arrowhead.
